DONATIONS NEEDED FOR THE JOHN HALL CANCER BENEFIT                 

  A Request from John Hall’s College Roommate

My name is Chris Seat and I am currently a second year student at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.  I am writing to in hopes of raising much needed funds for my roommate, John Hall, as he was diagnosed with cancer and is having trouble paying his medical bills.

John Hall is a 27 year old second year podiatry student at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine.  He was diagnosed with testicular cancer in late August of 2010, not even a full month into school, and underwent surgery a couple of weeks later.  He was so determined to get back into the swing of school that he did not take any medical leave, and was back after only a week.  Even in this difficult time, John took all of the exams as scheduled, and did quite well on them all. 

All of John’s follow up medical visits went well until May when he scheduled an appointment because he was experiencing unusual back pain.  At this appointment, they found that the cancer had spread, and he had to have another surgery as soon as possible to prevent it from spreading to his kidneys.  The surgery was a success, and John is currently undergoing chemotherapy while still taking a full coursework of classes to achieve his dream of becoming a podiatric physician.

He is one of the strongest, most determined people I have ever met and will let nothing get in the way of his dreams of becoming a Podiatrist.  It amazes me that he has gone through all of this hardship and did not take any medical leave and he will be finishing up his exams only a week after us.  He is not just getting by, but he is excelling with A’s and B’s.

I think the thing that speaks to his character the most is that I have not once heard him complain, or even say one negative thing about his cancer.  He always maintains his positive demeanor and if it weren’t for all of the weight he lost or his bald head, no one would even know anything is wrong.  John is not aware that I am collecting donations to raise money for his medical bills, because we would like to surprise him with all of the funds we raise for him.  John’s dedication to the field of Podiatry and his studies are an inspiration me, as well as everyone he meets.  There is no one more deserving of support in this difficult time.
